            Trading prohibited goods across sovereign borders is one of the oldest professions. Through the ages and in every society, there have been those who profit from the black market trade of spices, drugs, slaves, weapons, precious stones or animal parts, and today this way of making a living is alive and well.   

        

           In places where the rule of law has broken down, where government corruption is endemic and insurgent armies threaten the safety and prosperity of a whole nation, smuggling provides opportunities for quick profits as well as political influence.

            The four novels in the series ‘Smuggler’s Blues’  explore different aspects of the smuggling trades. They shed light into the reasons some people choose this profession, living in a daily defiance of the law and gaining an advantage by taking great risks.
